Montreal has produced and marketed ice hockey sticks since 1960. Kalevi ”Kallu” Numminen – the father of the current owners, Numminen brothers and sister, was one of the company´s founders.
Montreal is known especially for its sticks and has been one of the leading companies to introduce new innovations. 1960 Montreal introduced its first stick made of birch and compact aspen laminates, while the blades were straight and made of birch.
1962 Montreal began reinforcing blades with fiberglass strips and the durability of the sticks increased drasticly.
Curved blades 1965 revolutionized the nature of the game.
The second revolution was the fiberglass reinforced shafts 1973, which with carbon strips 1980 made the shaft remarkably stronger.
1996 Montreal introduced the composite shafts and the full composite stick,MONTREAL, 8500 NITRO was ready for the market 2002 – the third stick revolution was true.
For the 2004 Montreal offered full line of Nitro composites; one piece sticks, shafts and blades, among the other Montreal top quality products.
For 2006 Nano NITRO LITE makes the new revolution in the ice hockey stick technology. Hybtonite Nano NITRO offers 60 - 70% better impact resistance and unique feel of puck control.
