Nano technics - the future of ice hockey sticks

Montreal presents the first stick with the new nanotechnology. The stick is expected to be of great interest to the playing customer, as the advantages of the stick compared to the traditional carbon fiber stick are indisputable. Nanotechnology has made it possible to produce a more flexible shaft, which helps the handling of the puck and improves the feel for the game. The most important benefits are the improved manageability and durability.

Earlier, the carbon fiber stick was criticized in part because of the problems receiving passes with it. Compared to the traditional wooden stick, the material was harder, which often made it difficult for the blade to handle the puck. The new stick does not have this problem, because its flexibility allows for softer pass reception and an easier handling of the puck.

Another great benefit has to do with the shot itself. The flexibility gives better leverage, which allows the puck to be flung with greater speed.

The third advantage is the clear improvement of durability. The old carbon fiber stick clearly handled hard blows poorer than the new nano stick from Montreal. Since caution is thus no longer needed when handling the stick, durability improves playing tempo and moreover is an obvious money saver.

Nanotechnological solutions mean technology in the atomic and molecular level. One nanometer is one billionth part of a meter, which again is tens of thousands of times less than the diameter of a hair. The Montreal approach is based on the Hybtonite carbon nano tubes, in which carbon fiber and epoxy are combined on the molecular level in a new way.  Montreal has exclusive rights to this nano tube technology in hockey business.
